Kinesthetic Learner Characteristics

For parents and teachers it is important to identify common characteristics of kinesthetic learners, as because of their inability to sit still they are mislabeled as ADD or ADHD. Kinesthetic learners find it very stressful to be seated durning lectures of class work, and will often try to relieve stress by getting out of their seat frequently to sharpen their pencil or use the bathroom. They are often the student who rocks back and forth in his chair, taps her pencil on the desk, or shakes his leg consistently.


Kinesthetic learners tend to like to utilize their gross- and fine- motor skills in activities such as drawing, modeling, athletics and dance and hands-on science projects.

Prefer to try things first without instructions

Well coordinated
